There is a swimming pool (4m x 10m). The house is the perfect base to explore the chateaux of the valley of the Loire. Access - TGV to Paris (1 hr), London (4h 40 mins) from Tours. DETAILS OF ACCOMMODATION The house consists of two buildings around a courtyard, where there is an 18th century fountain. MAIN HOUSE In the main part of the house is the kitchen (with cellar) which is equipped with American fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. From the kitchen 50m2 you have access to the swimming pool on one side and the courtyard on the other via French doors. The dining room on the ground floor the large dining table can comfortably seat 14. Dining room table seats 14 The large sitting room (100m2) features a large stone fireplace and exposed roof timbers. It is very comfortably furnished with sofas and armchairs and television. French doors lead from the sitting room to the garden. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom, with bath and WC. On the first floor above the sitting room is a double bedroom with double bed. Via the principal staircase you have access to two bedrooms, each with two single beds, and a bathroom with bath and a separate WC. SECOND HOUSE The second house consists of one very large bedroom with two single beds, one large bedroom with bed, and bathroom with bath, double wash hand basin and WC. Next door is the glass fronted office, from where stairs lead up to a mezzanine, with a bed, a large bedroom with king size bed, a bathroom with shower and WC and a second bathroom with bath and WC. The latter connects with a bedroom with a children's bed. This property is set in one hectare of grounds is surrounded by fields, and a small wood and has magnificent views of the valley of the river Vienne The location is particularly calm, and the swimming pool of 4 x 10m2 with all the equipment for 12 persons. The tennis courts in the village are only 2km away. The house accommodates 12 persons comfortably, - it is ideal for four couples and four children for example. View from kitchen window Chenonceaux Chinon	ABOUT THE SURROUNDING AREA La Vrilleterie is close to a number of villages with all services within 6-10 kms. Places to visit in the near vicinity are the Abbey of St Michel de Bois Aubray, with a little cemetary close by that contains the tomb of actor Yul Brynner. Further afield is the splendid town of Richelieu, that was totally replanned by Richelieu to accommodate his court near his chateau. The Grande Rue is flanked by 28 mansions linking two symetrical squares. Also of note is 17th century timber market place. Not to be missed too is the town of Chinon, where you can still marvel at the medieval streets, that remind one of when Joan of Arc marched through on the way to the Dauphin and change the history of France. There is a steam train that links Chinon and Richelieu which can make a fun outing. But of course La Vrilleterie is perfect to visit what is most momentous here - chateaux. Amboise - was home to François I and Leonardo da Vinci who is reputedly buried here. The chateau has two large round towers above the river, and to one side there is the Chapel of St Hubert (where Leonardo da Vinci's tomb is). Also near is Azay-le-Rideau, one of the most beautiful chateaux on the Loire, surrounded by trees and reflected in a lake. Another jewel in the water is Chenonceaux, originally proposed by Diane de Poitiers - Henry II's mistress, as a five arched bridge across the Cher.However with the death of Henry II, Catherine de Medici forced her to leave for another chateau - Chaumont. The chateau was built in 1515. Boat trips, son et lumiere, a winery are among the number of sights to do and see. ACCESS Airports can be found at Tours-Val de Loire (Buzz Airlines direct to London Stansted), Rennes, Nantes, and Angers. It only takes a little over 1 hour from Tours to reach Paris by TGV - where there are international airports. The train from London to Tours takes 4 hours and 40 minutes (100 euros return bookings possible). An autoroute exit is 15 kms from La Vrilleterie
LE VRILLETERIE Payment is based on Euros Value - £ and $ are only approximate. Bookings are for a minimun of 2 weeks. The charges are inclusive of electricity, water, and garden and pool maintenance. A member of staff lives on the premises and can be employed by you at a cost of 765 euros per week. Linen is provided.
