Enter the world of red brick at Collonges La Rouge, near Souillac, and Brive La Gaillarde
Today's photos feature (December 19 2006)

In amongst the relaxing views and hills of Correze, Limousin, you find yourself in a different world where red houses predominate. Driving through orchards of walnut trees, or through meadows, with many a village with good sized houses and chateaux you reach Collonges La Rouge - One of the prettiest villages of France. With such a banner its important to visit it off season - as it can get packed from bus tours and the like. Visit the 12 th century church where Catholics and Protestants shared the same aisle! Visit the market with the village oven that would provide bread for the whole village. This is great area to explore in the Spring - May, June, or in the Autumn - or practically anytime of the year - as there is always something to spark and amuse the mind!
