Argens on the Canal du Midi - seen from the hidden lake


Just north of Lezignan, on the Canal du Midi, is the village of Argens - with canal side restaurant (summer only), chateau, and lovely walks through the vineyards or along the canal. Neighboring villages include Paraza, Roubia, Ventenac, Homps, Olonzac, St Valiere - each one with its restaurants, interesting houses, and streets, and beautiful surroundings. To the north are the hills of the Minervois - with potent wines, and deep gorges. To the south are the hills of the Corbieres with Cathar castles (Queribus, Peyrepertuse, and more) and pretty abbeys (Fontfroide, Lagrasse, etc.)
