Abbaye de Fontfroide
Close to Narbonne, tucked deep in a valley surrounded by hills, is the magical abbey of Fontfroide. It is a must to visit, at any time of the year, either for a guided tour around the buildings or a walk in the surrounding hills, particularly to the top of the hill that overlooks the Abbey, for its lovely view.

Fontfroide Abbey is particularly welcoming to visitors - for in addition to the superb architecture there is a well stocked gift shop and restaurant/café/bar. At the end of the edifying tour of the Benedictine Abbey, it is particularly enjoyable to sit in a glorious rose garden of some 3000 bushes. If you are visiting in the warmer months look out for exhibitions by local artists and music concerts
