DETAILS OF ACCOMMODATION The house is a traditional two room deep, stone maison de ville, all the rooms are spacious with high ceilings and tiled floors. The accommodation is arranged on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. The house, being south facing, is also very light. From the garage and entrance door at ground floor level there are traditional Languedoc stairs leading to the first floor where you will find the dining/kitchen and lounge areas. The kitchen has recently been fitted and has a gas hob with electric oven, coffee filter machine and all other necessary equipment. In the kitchen/dining area the door and side windows open to their full width, giving the room an "out of doors" feel. The balcony is large enough to sit on and enjoy your morning coffee or the obligatory aperitif before dinner! In the lounge there is a comfortable two seater sofa, two armchairs chairs and coffee table. There is also a Radio/CD player. From the lounge, French doors lead to a bedroom with two single beds. The tiled floor in this room is a beautiful old patterned Languedocian one. There is also a separate toilet, bidet and wash hand basin adjoining the room. On the second floor is the main bedroom, in which there is a marble fireplace. This room is light and airy and has a double bed with an en-suite shower, toilet and wash hand basin. French doors open onto a standing room only balcony. At the rear of the room is a large dressing room with built-in wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Finally, the total of the third floor is a converted grenier (loft), where there is a second lounge area. The large window opens the full width and, when fully open, makes a wonderful area to sit and relax in the sun (or, if you prefer, shade) during the day or in evening for drinks. A small fridge is in the grenier - so you don't have to run down stairs for another cold bottle of wine! We would point out that, as obviously all levels have to be reached by a more or less continuous winding staircase, the house is not be suitable for people who have any difficulty in negotiating stairs. No children under the age of 16. No smoking in the house. Please use the garage if you have a car as the road is designated as a "clearway". We hope Maison de Pierre appeals to you. |

PEZENAS AND SURROUNDING AREA Pezenas, not only famous for being the home, for a while, of the famous Playwright Molière, is also a very beautiful medieval market town and is an artists haven. There is an outstanding array of historic buildings, with areas of XVI & XVII century architecture, some buildings are open to the public on certain days; you can walk around viewing many from the outside with the help of the guide map available from the Tourist Office. The town also has numerous bars and restaurants; a variety of clothing shops; art and craft shops in the medieval quarter (in which many buildings have been restored to their former glory). There are also, of course, those wonderful French boulangeries to tempt you with the aroma of freshly baked bread, and all within a couple of minutes walk from the house. The Saturday market is a must you'll see flower stalls giving a kaleidoscope of colours; seasonal vegetables in abundance and many other stalls selling a variety of local produce to tempt your taste buds. Pezenas also has its own Cave Co-operative within 10 minutes walk from Maison de Pierre, there you can sample and buy the local wine for under a £ per litre (if you buy a 5 litre flagon) or bottles of wine, so reasonably priced it's hard to resist ! Although there is much to keep you occupied in Pezenas, you will not want to miss out on the other attractions of the area and especially tours of the famous Domaines in this renowned winemaking region.
