DETAILS OF ACCOMMODATION
Le Castellou is situated in Pierrerue, a village perched on the side of a hill, just outside Saint-Chinian.
The house is built on part of the site of the old Chateau of the village, which overlooked the valleys around, and you can still see some old arrow slits in the walls by the terrace. Recently refurbished the owners have been careful to retain much of the character of the house.
The house is entered via some steps into a small entrance hall, where you find a washing machine and an additional refrigerator. Step into the salon, with its wood beamed ceiling and ancient fireplace, which is furnished with a dining table for four, easy chairs and an antique sideboard.
Off the salon is the galley kitchen, with gas cooker, refrigerator, microwave and the original stone sink. An ancient door leads from the salon to the double bedroom, with its elegant iron bed and en-suite bathroom with shower, WC and hand wash basin.
A staircase leads from the salon to the lower floor, where there is a utility area with ironing board, iron and clothes airer. From this utility room French doors lead on to the terrace.
The terrace is furnished with garden chairs, table and Barbecue and pleasantly shaded by a tree. From the terrace you have a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. A telephone is available in Le Castellou, for receiving calls and making calls by means of prepaid phone cards, or charge cards.
ABOUT PIERRERUE AND SAINT CHINIAN
Pierrerue is less than 5 minutes drive from Saint Chinian. Saint Chinian is nestled in the foothills between the Montagne Noire and the Cevennes, being almost equidistant from the beaches of the Mediterranean and the Haut Languedoc Regional Park
Saint-Chinian is the focal point for the immediate surrounding area. Here are the twice weekly markets, five bars and restaurants, five bakers, four butchers, grocery shops and newsagents. There are also three banks with ATMs, and a larger supermarket with petrol station on the outskirts. Some of the other facilities available include tennis courts, open-air swimming pool, cycle hire, hairdresser/barber, dry cleaner and doctors.
The Languedoc-Roussillon region is a haven for wine lovers, with Saint Chinian at the heart of the AOC region by the same name. There are a lot of other past-times to keep your interest and here are just a few: cycling along the Canal du Midi, canoeing down the river Orb, fishing in one of the many streams, stunning walks in all directions, swimming in the Mediterranean or painting the lovely scenery.

Saint Chinian is an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding towns and villages, the countryside and sights of "the other south of France", making it perfect for a superb holiday at any time of the year.
ACCESS
International airports are within easy driving distance - Montpellier (60 mins), Carcassonne (60 mins), Toulouse (2 hours) and Barcelona (3.5 hours). There are railway stations at Beziers (25 mins) and Narbonne (40 mins) with TGV connections to Paris.
