Anise - Wild Flower and Ingredient a le-guide.com fact file

Anise is used to flavor Absinthe, Anisette, and Pastis, and is perhaps one of the ingredients in Chartreuse.

Anise is an antiparasitic and the leaves can treat digestive problems, toothache, and its oil can treat lice and scabies. Anise can also be used to relieve menstrual cramps.

Anise can grow to 3 ft (0.91 m) tall. The flowers are white, approximately 3 mm diameter, produced in dense umbels. The fruit is an oblong dry schizocarp, 3 - 5 mm long. The seedpods are referred to as "aniseed".
